We are quickly approaching SDSU’s Homecoming 2010 weekend, which is scheduled for the weekend of Oct. 15 & 16, 2010. While we no longer have a Chapter at SDSU, we still have a lot of alumni who like to get together over Homecoming Weekend to share old stories, get reacquainted with old brothers and to have a little fun. Details on the events for the weekend will be sent in a few weeks.

The SDAAA has coordinated various events during homecoming weekend in each of the past 8-9 years. We typically start with a Kappa Golf alumni Tournament on the Friday before the football game, which this year would be Oct. 15^th.

I wanted to touch base to see how many guys are interested in having another golf tournament this year? If we have a good group, I will get things organized. If not, we will pass this year. Expect the cost to be around $100 per guy for golf, cart and lunch.

SDSU Alumni Center

It is that time of year again for our annual Founders Day Celebration. This year’s event will be a very special one because we will be having as our guest speaker, Kappa Sigma/Epsilon-Iota alumnus, Brian Sipe, who as all of you know was a NFL star, all pro and MVP during his days with the Cleveland Browns. Brian is currently the Quarterback coach for the rejuvenated SDSU Aztecs. With his and the entire coaching staff’s support, we will see the Aztecs get back to their glory days in the very near future. Brian will speak to us about his days as a Kappa Sigma at SDSU, but more importantly about the lessons he has learned in life as a pro athlete and now successful coach.

We have limited space for this event and now with 2 chapters here in the San Diego area, the available spots will fill up fast. This will be “first come, first served” so please get back to me as soon as possible with a firm commitment on your attendance. If you are planning to attend, please respond directly back to me at dschofield@skylight.com. I need to finalize the headcount no later than Monday, November 30th.

Alumni Golf 2009

While the SDSU Aztecs enjoyed close competition, Kappa Sigma Alumni enjoyed a great weekend of brotherhood and entertainment.

Starting with the Alumni Golf Tournament on Friday (October 16, 2009), over 40 brothers gathered to play an exciting and fun-filled tournament at the Double Tree Golf Resort.

We also enjoyed a stunning display of Aztec Football on Saturday (October 17, 2009), giving a decent showing against BYU. The tailgate prior to the game was a great time to reacquainted with other Alumni and reconnect on recent events.

Keep your calendar open for Dec 6th, 2009 (Sunday) as Founder’s Day will be an event you will not want to miss! We’re having a very special guest speaker who has recently achieved new status as a local Kappa Sigma Epsilon-Iota alumni.
